Today's Focus: Share the Good News. With this Sunday the emphasis in the readings begins to shift. During the past eight weeks, our worship emphasis has been on the creation of faith and its preservation in spite of suffering and persecution. With this Sunday the second cycle of the Pentecost season begins and with it an emphasis on the response of those who hear the Word. The reponse emphasized this Sunday is: those who have the Savior in his Word share him by sharing the Word.

The sermon for Sunday, July 15, 2018, are three meditations based on Ezekiel 2:1-3:4, 2 Timothy 3:10-4:5, and Mark 6:1-6
Today's Focus: Faithful to the Word. Jesus preserves our faith even in the face of persecution. We have seen that the Christian suffers in the face of natural calamities and that he too must face death, both his own and that of those he loves. In circumstances such as these Jesus remains faithful to his Word. Now comes the suffering that is the result of our faithfulness to that Word, of translating faith into faithfulness. It is a suffering that is promised and that is most painful when it comes from those who have heard that the Word with us. Even in the face of such offense he preserves faith in the Word by the Word.

Today's Focus: Don't Be Afraid-Just Believe. Faith does not eliminate suffering from our lives. This Sunday we see that suffering includes even death. The unbeliever who has only tears and despair in the face of death vainly hopes that death ends all. The Christian, even when faced with death, clings to the one who has overcome death for us.

Today's Focus: God's Kingdom Grows. The work of the gospel is invisible, but real. It is hidden, but with results that can be seen-even if the power behind those visible results remains a mystery. That is true of the kingdom of God, the church. It is no less true of the kingdom of God hidden within the individual member of the church. Faith that is the result of the living seed of the Word is alive and gives evidence of its life.

Today's Focus: Today God asks us a striking question: "Where are you?" Are you blind to your need to repent and happy to ignore God and his Word? Or are you able to confess your sins and deep need for God's mercy? If the first question describes you, then you have everything to fear. If the second question describes you, then you have nothing to fear. For your perfect heavenly Father has full and free forgiveness for you. How deep the Father's love for us! Don't hide from Him, but instead repent and be restored by Him today!

But what does the term "Trinity" or "Triune" really mean? And how does the truth of the Trinity effect our lives? God will give us answers to those questions today. The sermon for Sunday, May 27, 2018, is based on Ezekiel 37:1-14
Today's Focus: The Day of Pentecost. God promised "I will pour out my Spirit." God's Old Testament people celebrated the gathering of the harvest at the Festival of Weeks, which took place fifty days after the Passover Festival. On the fiftieth day, God sent the promised Counselor, the Holy Spirit, on the day we call "Pentecost" (greek for "fifty"). This day marked the birthday of the New Testament Church and celebrates the harvest of souls won by the Son and gathered by his servants empowered by his Spirit.
