Sermon - December 17, 2017 - Rejoice! He Comes For You
Sunday Dec 17, 2017
Sunday Dec 17, 2017
The sermon for Sunday, December 17, 2017 is based on Malachi 4:1-6
Today's Focus: Rejoice! He comes for you! Cherish this message that comes from God's Word. Wrapped in that message are the most beautiful of Christmas presents, bought by Christ and carried to us by the Holy Spirit. The message prepares you for the real Christmas and for the real joy that God wants you to have in Christmas. It is joy of peace with God even when conscience accuses. So don't despise the preaching of that message as though it were old news not worthy of repetition. Test all the customs of Christmas in your heart and home, and hold fast to those that focus on Christ. Shun the evil and the debauchery that many pass off as Christmas Spirit. The Christmas Spirit is the joy of holiness because of sin washed away. It is the joy of knowing that God is faithful and will not leave us or forsake us no matter what happens to us in this life; for the Light of the world is on his way, right around the corner, and he will not disappoint or fail to keep his Word! Rejoice!

Sunday Dec 10, 2017
Sunday Dec 10, 2017
The service for Sunday, December 10, 2017 is a series of 3 sermonettes based on, Isaiah 40:1-11, Mark 1:1-18 and 2 Peter 3:8-14
Today's Focus: Listen! His Word prepares you! Since Jesus' coming is sure and so important, he sends out forerunners in the footsteps of John the Baptist who help us to make proper preparation for his coming. They do that with a message not their own. They do it with the message that he himself has given. We will do well to pay close attention to those heralds of the comong Lord, the prophets and apostles, and to the pastors and teachers in our midst who have succeeded them to get us ready for his coming.

Sermon - December 3, 2017 - First Sunday in Advent
Sunday Dec 03, 2017
Sunday Dec 03, 2017
The sermon for Sunday, December 3, 2017 is based on Mark 13:32-37
Today's Focus: Keep watch! Jesus will come again! Those who are busy doing their own thing, serving self, looking only for the cute and entertaining things that have become such a part of the world's Christmas culture, will not be ready for either his coming in grace or his coming in judgement. Make no mistake about it: He comes! He comes in grace! He comes in judgement! How then should we prepare for both comings? We do well to turn our eyes away from the glitter and the culture of the world and focus them instead first on our need for his coming and then on his sure and certain promise to fulfill that need when he comes. We eagerly prepare by repentant watching.

Sermon - November 12, 2017 - The Last Judgment
Monday Nov 13, 2017
Monday Nov 13, 2017
The sermon for Sunday, November 12, 2017 is based on Daniel 7:9,10
Today's Focus: As the church year comes to a close, four Sundays are dedicated to the "End Time"-the time in the future when Jesus will triumphantly come back to take his people to eternal glory. This Sunday we look at one aspect of that time: the Last Judgement. The words "Last Judgement" or "Judgement Day" often make many uneasy. Many may wonder what that day will be like. They may wonder what God will do with them on that day. Will they join him in heaven, or suffer forever in hell? Today we will see that God's children have nothing to fear on the last Day. In fact, covered with the perfect life of Jesus, they have one thing to look forward to: an eternity of peace with their loving God.

Sermon - November 5, 2017 - Saints Triumphant
Sunday Nov 05, 2017
Sunday Nov 05, 2017
The sermon for Sunday, November 5, 2017 is based on 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Today's Focus: Have you ever won a contest? A prize? A sporting event? An award? What was the feeling like? Imagine the greatest feeling of victory that you can. Now imagine that feeling doubled in intensity and in joy. This might help us imagine just a bit the feeling of victory that we will in heaven-forever united with every other saint, or believer in Jesus, in victory. But we do not need to wait for heaven to start celebrating. In worship this morning, we will celebrate the Saints Triumphant-all those believers who have gone before us into heaven, those who believe in Jesus now, and the victory that is ours forever.

Service - October 29, 2017 - The Lutheran Reformation
Sunday Oct 29, 2017
Sunday Oct 29, 2017
The service for Sunday, October 29, 2017 is a series of five sermonettes based on, John 8:44, Ephesians 2:8,9, Romans 4:25, John 19:30, and Matthew 1:20,21.
Today's Focus: We do not worship Martin Luther. However, on this day we pause to give special thanks to God for using Martin Luther to proclaim the message of the Bible during spiritually dark times: that we are saved by God's grace alone, this is ours through faith alone, and we can be certain of it in the Bible alone. Martin Luther wrote in his most famous hymm, "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God", that "one little word [of God] can fell him [Satan]." To celebrate the refocusing od God's people on his Word that came about from the Reformation, we will consider five "little" yet powerful words from Scripture today. As we do, we will thank God for his grace, the blessings of which come to us by faith created by the Word. Come, let us worship him!

Sunday Oct 22, 2017
Sunday Oct 22, 2017
The sermon for Sunday, October 22, 2017 is based on Matthew 22:1-14
Today's Focus: Our God invites unworthy sinners to participate in his blessing. God has issued an invitation to eternal life in heaven. His desire is that all would hear his invitation, written in his Word and proclaimed by his messengers, and believe it. What makes this invitation possible? Jesus lived, died, and rose to win forgiveness and new life for unworhty sinners. He clothes us in his robes of righteousness, and invites us to the feast. Come!

Sermon - October 15, 2017 - Our God Patiently Seeks Fruits of Faith
Sunday Oct 15, 2017
Sunday Oct 15, 2017
The sermon for Sunday, October 15, 2017 is based on Isaiah 5:1-7
Today's Focus: Our God Patiently Seeks Fruits of Faith. The arrival of fall signals an approaching event in many areas of farm land: harvest time. Faithful farmers will be able to cultivate their crops and celebrate the fruit of their labors. They rightly expect to yeild "fruit" or crops from their land. God thinks the same way about us. He expects to see a harvest of faith-born fruit things like peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control-in every season of our lives. Come and worship your God, who expects and empowers you to bear fruit for him!
