Today's Focus: The Christian finds rest in Jesus. From the beginning of time, God provided rest for his creation. He blessed the seventh day and set it apart, that we might learn to find our rest in God alone. In Jesus, we find rest from our burdens, rest from our batttles, and rest forever in heaven.

The sermon for Sunday, July 02, 2017 is Luke 9:18-26
Today's Focus: The Christian loves God above all things. Famous Christian author C.S. Lewis said, "Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important." This morning Jesus asserts the all-important nature of faith, and the all-consuming nature of discipleship. Jesus calls us to love him above all - more than family or friends, more than personal safety or even life itself. He explains that such total commitment to himself will not bring peace to our lives, but constant conflict with the sinful world around us. However, he reminds us of his undying love for us and points us to our home in heaven, kept safe by the One who sent him.

The sermon for Sunday, June 25, 2017 is actually three seromettes based on Exodus 3:1-15, 1 Timothy 1:12-17, and Matthew 9:9-13
Today's Focus: The Holy Ministry is filled with people who God called out of his boundless mercy. Nothing else could explain the choices for ministers that God made! He calls such sinful and weak people to fill this office. Only mercy can explain those he chose in this Sunday's Scripture readings: a despised tax collector, an exiled killer, a persecutor of Christians. How poignant these readingd are, when we remeber that each reading was penned by the minister called into service by God's boundless mercy!

Today's Focus: The Holy Ministry stands on the rock-solid truth of God's Word. Not all who call themselves ministers do that, so watch out for false teachers. Many will come with wise sounding words and pious promises, but they are not what they seem. The Church's only defense is to stand firmly on the rock-solid truth of God's Word. In the season of Pentecost, we explore deeply the teachings of Christ and the application of faith in the life of the Christian. How fitting that this initial Sunday lays the foundation for that teaching and life: the inspired Word of God.

Today's Focus: The Holy Trinity. In the church year, this Sunday is known as "Trinity Sunday". It is a rather appropriate Sunday for a congregationwhich is named Trinity Lutheran Church! But what does the term "Trinity" or "Triune" really mean? And how does the truth of the Trinity effect our lives? God will give us answers to those questions today. We will see that the Triune God is greater than we can comprehend in terms of both His power and His love. Come and celebrate the truths of the Trinity!

The sermon for Sunday, June 4, 2017. The sermon text is based on Acts 2:1-21
Today's Focus: God promised "I will pour out my Spirit." God's Old Testament people celebrated the gathering of the harvest at the Festival of Weeks, which took place fifty days after the Passover Festival. On the fiftieth day, God sent the promised Counselor, the Holy Spirit, on the daywe call "Pentecost" (Greek for "fifty"). This day marked the birthday of the New Testament Church and celebrates the harvest of souls won by the Son and gathered by his servants empowered by his Spirit.

Today's Focus: The final image one sees of a person can often become emblazed in one's memory. We will see the final image that Jesus gave to his diciples on earth. It is not an image of defeat. Instead, it is one of incredible victory, power and love as he ascends to heaven. It is this image of love that binds us together in the Christian unity and love which we celebrate.

Today's Focus: Jesus calls us to show his love for him by obeying his instructions and holding to his Word. We promise to do so as when we take our confirmation vows. However, on our own, we cannot follow Jesus' directive. So he promises to send a Counselor-the Holy Spirit-to live in us and empower us to follow him.
