The sermon for Sunday, November 11, 2018, is based on John 5:19-30
Today's Focus: As the church year comes to a close, four Sundays are dedicated to the "End Time"-the time in the future when Jesus will triumphantly come back to take his people to eternal glory. This Sunday we look at one aspect of that time: the Last Judgement. The words "Last Judgement" or "Judgement Day" often make many uneasy. Many may wonder what that day will be like. They may wonder what God will do with them on that day. Will they join him in heaven, or suffer forever in hell? Today we will see that God's children having nothing to fear on the Last Day. In fact, covered with the perfect life of Jesus, they have one thing to look forward to: an eternity of peace with their loving God.
Sermon given by Luke Hendricks.

The sermon for Sunday, November 04, 2018, is based on Hebrews 12:1-3
Today's Focus: Have you ever won a contest? A prize? A sporting event? An award? What was the feeling like? Imagine the greatest feeling of victory that you can. Now imagine that feeling doubled in intensity and in joy. This might help us imagine just a bit the feeling of victory that we will have in heaven-forever united with every other saint, or believer in Jesus, in victory. But we do not need to wait for heaven to start celebrating. In this sermon, we will celebrate the Saints Triumphant-all those believers who have gone before us into heaven, those who believe in Jesus now, and the victory that is ours forever. Come and worship your God, and join in the celebration!

The sermon for Sunday, October 28, 2018, is a series of sermonettes based on Romans 3, Romans 1, John 14, Philippians 3 and Revelations 21.
Today's Focus: Today, as every Sunday, we worship God. We do not worship Martin Luther. However, on this day we pause to give special thanks to God for using Martin Luther to proclaim the message of the Bible during spiritually dark times: that we are saved by God's grace alone, this is ours through faith alone, and we can be certain of it in the Bible alone. To further illustrate the good news of God's love, Martin Luther designed a family seal. In this service we will look at the symbolism and Scriptural references behind the seal, and celebrate the full and free love of our God. Come, let us worship the Lord!

The sermon for Sunday, October 21, 2018, is based on Hebrews 2:9-11
Today's Focus: The closest we can get to a mirror of the love of God for us is the mirror of the love that he wants us to have for one another in the family. The goal of family members is to reflect the love of God for us in self-giving love for one another in the family. How tragic that in our society such a mirror is clouded indeed! There is much to repent of and much to strive toward.

The sermon for Sunday, October 14, 2018, is based on Mark 9:38-50
Today's Focus: The gifts of God are so rich and varied that the devil uses that very generosity in God to stir up jealousy and envy in us. Expect it in others; find it in yourself as well! That weakness makes it crystal clear that our own flesh will often give us much more difficulty and anguish than the hostility or the persecution from the world.

The sermon for Sunday, September 30, 2018, is based on Mark 8:27-35
Today's Focus: Those who confess that Jesus is the Christ and not just another great prophet or teacher or role model for good living must let even this truth penetrate: Christ came to suffer, Christ came to die; he did it in perfect obedience to his Father; he did it in perfect love for us and for our salvation. His obedience and love were not cheap. Ours should not be either. We are not saved to sin all the more. We are rescued for life and for life eternal but only in the procession of cross bearers following in his footsteps. Come and worship him who bore the cross for you, and who will empower you to carry whatever crosses come your way.

The sermon for Sunday, September 23, 2018, is based on Mark 7:31-37
Today's Focus: Unbelief mocks and says that if God did all things well and was the source of all good, then he shouldn't allow misery and need in the first place. But especially in need and suffering God does all things well; that truth is the center of the Christian's quiet confidence. It is the reason for our hope based on the promise of God and earned for us by the work of Christ and its eternal consequence for us.

The sermon for Sunday, September 16, 2018, is based on Deuteronomy 4:1, 2, 6-9
Today's Focus: In our Scripture readings this morning, God will get to the heart of all human problems: the human heart! We will see that our hearts are inclined to sin by nature, but that God has forgiven our sin in Jesus and sends His Holy Spirit, working through the Word, to bring new life to our hearts and new motives to our minds. Come and see how God heals our hearts and creates new hearts within us!

The sermon for Sunday, September 9, 2018, is based on John 6:60-69
Today's Focus: It is not only the outsider who turns aside from the Wisdom which is Christ. Many who have heard the Word with us also go away when some part of it conflicts with their own thinking. The need to submit one's own reason and will to the Word of God is not a onetime thing. It is a sacrifice that needs to be renewed often, in every stage of life, as new threats come that oppose Wisdom and its expression in the Word. May God empower you to believe that his Word and Wisdom are eternal life!

The sermon for Sunday, September 2, 2018, is based on Proverbs 9:1-6
Today's Focus: The wisdom of God is not merely more clever than the wisdom of the philosopher or anyone else in this world. It is altogether other and unique. It is so powerful that it overcomes the death of unbelief and the arrogance of fallen reason. Therefore, we gladly bring to God all of our own wisdom and our own opinions and lay them at the foot of the cross. We gladly go to war against all of our own thoughts that contradict any part of his Word. For all other bread for the soul perishes in its use, and those who eat it perish with it. But the gospel provides a feast of truth and wisdom that gives life and salvation.
