Today's Focus: Christians do their duty.  It is the believer's duty to abstain from sin, give forgiveness, and serve our neighbor.  It is a privilege to do our duty as Christians, but we are weak.  The Church, therefore, prays that God would make us ready to do with a cheerful heart that which pleases him.

Today's Focus:  Christians love the lost like Christ.  The believer loves the lost like Christ.  The righteous live by faith; yet how easy it is for the righteous to slip into self-righteous judgment of other sinners, forgetting the grace that has been shown them.  Today Christ calls us to love the lost like he does and rejoice over every sinner that "once was lost, but now is found."

Yet another warning is heard this week: the life of faith may come at great personal expense. Counting the cost of discipleship leads to true wisdom.

Today's Focus: The first will be last...humble yourselves. The life of faith is one of true humility. But it is humility rendered by faith in the promise of God that those who exalt themselves on earth will be humiliated for eternity, but those who humble themselves now will be exalted.

The sermon for the fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost, August 21, 2016.  The sermon text is based on Luke 13:22-30.  The theme this week is: "The Door to Heaven is Narrow".

Today's Focus:  The door to heaven is narrow. The way to heaven is narrow. Mere outward attachment to the family of God is no sufficient - only through faith in Christ can we enter heaven. The door is narrow and Christ commands us to make every effort to enter it. Although the door is narrow, it is open to all, and believers will come from all nations to behold the glory of the Lord.

The sermon for the thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost, August 14, 2016.  The sermon text is based on Philippians 4:4-7, 10-13.  The theme this week is: "Followers of Christ Find Strength in Jesus".

Today's Focus:  Philippians 4:13 is a favorite and yet often misunderstood verse from Christians.  Paul's words in Philippians 4:13 are more about the endurance of every circumstance, rather than enjoyment of every circumstance - more about contentment in everything, rather than the capability to do everything.  Paul said, "I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation."  The secret of enduring every situation with contentment is realizing our strength and our joy come entirely apart from ourselves.  Our strength is in him who keeps strengthening us - Jesus!

Proverbs 3:5,6 Day 4: "Jesus Gives Us Love". 1 John 3:16a Day 5: "Jesus Gives Us His Power". 2 Corinthians 4:7 Today's Focus: This past week we geared up for an over-the-top underground adventure at Vacation Bible School! Our program, "Cave Quest: Following Jesus, the Light of the World!" centered us on the rock solid truths of God's Word.
